I have been drooling over the iPhone since it was first launched in 2007. I mean, if I had one, I could literally hold my life in my own hands. OK, maybe that’s a little dramatic. But it would allow me to have access to my calendars, contacts, the Internet, maps, music, and so much more.

X-0-X-0…Oh No!
One year I read in a magazine that instead of giving cards to your immediate family for various holidays, it’s cheaper…and perhaps more meaningful…to buy a journal for each family member and on every holiday, everyone writes a little something in the journal to make that person feel special. It’s good at non-holiday times too if your loved ones just need a little “boost.”
We’ve been doing this for about four years now and it’s been a lot of fun. It’s always nice to read the nice messages or see the cute pictures (if the little ones can’t write yet). I always try to write something different for both of my children to make them feel special, but little did I know that it’s not just the words that matter, it’s the number of X’s and O’s you put before the “Love, Mom” salutation that can have an affect as well.

The Dreaded Orange Gum
Every day my dog and I go for a walk at lunch time. There is one particular corner she likes to “do her business” so to speak. And…despite the 12 feet of snow that’s out there (OK, maybe I’m exaggerating…it’s 11 feet), somehow my furry friend manages to “dig deep” and find an orange piece of gum. I don’t know who the culprit is that uses this as their dumping ground, but my sharp schnozzed puppy can always find it. Yesterday, she literally buried ¾ of her body as she dug due South to claim this tasty morsel. I had no idea what she was doing until we got home and out fell the dreaded orange gum. I think I might set up a camera on the outside of my house and point it at the corner lot to catch the offender. I’m guessing a teen girl. No boy would get caught chewing something so pastel and “fruity.” So you better watch out orange gum chewer. I’m comin’ after you!!!

Building Blocks for Building a Blog
Before I launched this blog, I did a lot of research about what the latest blogging tools and technology are. I decided to build the blog using WordPress, and I knew I wanted to add some bells and whistles to make it really “shine.”
I did what I normally do when I want to learn about computer technology, I went and bought a bunch of books. I bought two on blogging, one about SEO, one about DreamWeaver and one about WordPress. That’s a lot of books!

If You Blog…They Will Come!
So the goal of this blog is to provide some light entertainment, helpful hints for a community of moms (and dads) who just need a little break from the chaos of kids, family, work and life itself. Simple, right? Well, that’s what I’m hoping. I’m hoping that my visitors will revisit, invite their friends, make a comment or two and most importantly…laugh!
